Surrey's United Naturists are holding the 17th annual New Year's Day swim, where the dress code is no clothing at all.
The 'Polar Bare Skinny Dip' is set for Wednesday (Jan. 1, 2025) at the nude-friendly Crescent Rock beach in South Surrey, according to a SUN release.
It starts at 1 p.m. in the icy waters of Boundary Bay in front of the 120-tonne Crescent Rock boulder. Those interested in joining the the au natural swim can walk south from Crescent Beach approximately 100 metres past the Christopherson Steps metal staircase, or take the stairs — at the west end of 24 Avenue — down to the beach.
Santa hats, body paint, limited festive garments and Canada flags are always appreciated, the release noted.
Foot protection, including secure sandals or aquatic shoes, are needed for the small rocks before the sand flats.
Swimmers must not walk on the railroad tracks for safety reasons, the release continued, as it is dangerous and can also result in a fine.
The swim is scheduled after the noon polar bear swim in White Rock, which gets underway around 10:30 a.m. at the iconic white rock east of the pier.
