Two people are dead after a vehicle crash on Highway 99 in Surrey Monday.

Highway 99 remained closed northbound between 16 Avenue and 32 Avenue Monday morning (Nov. 18) due to the fatal rollover crash, which killed two people, RCMP said in a release.

Police and fire responded to the scene in the 2800-block of Highway 99, finding a vehicle fully engulfed with the driver and a passenger inside, deceased.

The crash happened around 3:30 a.m.

"Police are working to identify the victims in this collision," the release noted.

RCMP advised commuters to plan ahead, avoid the area and use alternate routes; the highway re-opened around 5 p.m. Monday.

Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fatal collision, with police appealing for information from the public. Any witnesses or those who may have dash-camera footage to the incident are asked to contact Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502.
