Junior golfers compete in a CJGA tournament at The Hills at Portal in South Surrey Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 21-22).

The Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA) concluded its 36-hole championship on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 22) as elite junior golfers navigated the tricky terrain of The Hills at Portal Golf Course in South Surrey.

The course played challenging, as golfers endured the narrow fairways, uneven lies, tricky pins, and fast greens.

The largest margin of victory came in the Junior Girls division (U19) as Vancouver golfer Jenny Kwon played exceptional with rounds of 76, 75 (+7), a release notes.

Not to be outdone, Richmond's Maggie Zhang fired rounds of 75, 76 (+7) to win by 15 shots In the Bantam Girls (U15) division.

On the boy's side, Port Moody's Jack Jin shot 74, 76 (+6) to win by one stroke. Jin held off a very strong Bantam Boy (U15) field and a late charge from North Vancouver's Ryan Gibbens, who shot 79, 72 (+7) for second place.

Coquitlam's Yuda Nam was also victorious in the Junior Boys (U19) division, as he won by one stroke over Eric Li (also from Coquitlam) by shooting rounds of 80, 77 (+13) from the back tees.

The CJGA has four remaining events in the lower mainland to finish the 2024 season in B.C.
