Surrey Police Service is investigating an early-morning arson Tuesday (Jan. 21, 2025) that targeted a Surrey business.

Surrey Police Service is investigating after an early-morning fire Tuesday (Jan. 21) caused significant damage at a local business.

Police say the targeted arson "significantly damaged three large trucks" in a release that noted SPS officer responded to a report of several large trucks on fire at a business in the 13300-block of 78 Avenue shortly after 4:30 a.m.

When officers arrived, Surrey Fire Service was on scene and in the process of extinguishing fires on three separate, five-ton box trucks belonging to a business located in the area. There was no other damage to any vehicles or nearby buildings, police noted.

While it is still early in the investigation by SPS's Frontline Investigative Support Team and the motive remains unknown, evidence collected thus far indicates that this is a targeted arson, the release said.

"At this time it is believed that there are two suspects, both possibly males between the ages of 16 and 40, who were dressed all in black and were wearing face covers. It is believed that they left the area in a dark-coloured sedan," it stated.

Anyone the area of the 13300-block of 78 Avenue between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m. Tuesday (Jan. 21) who saw anyone suspicious, or has any information, including dashcam footage or CCTV footage, is asked to call Surrey Police Service at 604-599-0502 and quote file 2025-5896 (SP).
