White Rock council meeting will be held at the city's community centre starting Monday, Jan. 13.

White Rock council meetings are making a move.

In a post on X, the city reminded residents that starting Monday, Jan. 13, regular White Rock city council meetings will be held in the White Rock Community Centre, located at 15154 Russell Ave. (Gallery Room), unless otherwise noted.

Plans are for the old chamber space at city hall to be renovated and refurbished to provide desperately needed office space for staff, until the eventual creation of a new ‘Community Hub’ for council and city departments.

At issue is the ongoing shortage of office space at city hall – which has been repeatedly cited as an impediment to operations, discouraging staff retention and recruitment and hampering any attempt at growing or improving services to the public.

In the interim, the city plans to expand staff offices for the finance, planning and communications department in the existing council chamber space.
