Five boxers from White Rock and South Surrey did well at a recent competition.

Several boxers from White Rock and South Surrey made finals at a provincial competition earlier this month.

Five local boxers with Stephen Lapre's Ocean City Boxing all made finals at the 2024 BC Provincial Bronze Gloves Championships in Chilliwack, resulting in three champions and two runner-ups, Lapre noted in an email.

"Boxing clubs from all over the province descended upon The Landing Sports Complex for amateur boxing supremacy. Ocean City Boxing represented the South Surrey and White Rock area with five athletes, all of whom made it to the finals after a long, three-day ordeal," he said.

"Three champions and two runner-ups is an impressive feat in itself, as many clubs did not make the finals with their boxing roster in attendance."

2024 BC Provincial Bronze Gloves Champions:

• Micah Chow, 16

• Arjun Mangat, 15

• Brice McKay, 15

2024 BC Provincial Bronze Gloves Runner-Ups:

• Brody Mack, 14

• Taylor Moore, 38
