Editor,

Having spent the past two months in and out of Peace Arch Hospital, I empathize with recent letter writers.  There is a huge need for more funding from governments on structure, equipment and staffing.

However, the personnel who tended me were thorough and thoughtful, and went out of their way to be helpful.  I love the colourful scrubs instead of stark white.

Ambulances may be bumpy, but the paramedics were prompt, professional and personable.

With the hours and the contexts in which health professionals work, it's no wonder they burn out rapidly.  The real wonder is that they perform so splendidly, given working conditions.
