Re: 'Negative slant' did a disservice to White Rock readers (Jan. 9 letter to editor)
Our local media plays a vital role in delivering balanced and thoughtful coverage that captures the complexity of issues and decisions of White Rock city council.
While positivity in local news is valuable, constructive criticism should not be mistaken for negativity. White Rock residents deserve honest and transparent reporting, especially when decisions that significantly impacts on our community.
Highlighting concerns isn’t about fear or division; it’s about accountability and ensuring our leaders prioritize the best interests of all residents. Ignoring challenges or dismissing valid critiques as “negative” risks silencing important conversations that lead to meaningful change.
A strong community thrives on informed dialogue and active engagement. Instead of framing critical analysis as divisive, let’s see it as a call to action for a better, more inclusive White Rock.
It’s important to recognize that the decisions and discussions around our community’s politics directly impact the residents who live here.
