Editor,
As the election grew near I thought Trevor Halford has been doing a good job for our area and it would be an easy decision to vote Liberal for him. Then they changed the party name to BC United, and I thought, while that was not a very well-timed move, Mr. Halford was doing a good job so still give him my vote.
Then Liberal/BC United dissolved itself and threw support to the Conservatives and I thought, if Trevor goes independent, maybe I should still vote for him as I think he has been doing a good job.
But, alas, Mr. Halford joined the Conservatives under Mr. Rustad and I thought, oh-oh, do I really want to support those extreme right views?
And today I heard that Mr. Rustad, if elected, will scrap ICBC and allow for-profit private insurance companies to take over our car insurance business; and we can join the majority of other Canadian provinces in paying 50 to 100 per cent more for our car insurance. And perhaps lose all the traffic safety initiatives that ICBC does.
On the other hand, Mr. Eby and the NDP have also been doing a pretty good job, so it’ll be an easy decision for me on who to vote for.
PS: Note to self – If the Conservatives win, be sure to buy lots of stock in car insurance companies.
