Editor,

Re: Change a-cookin' at Peace Arch Hospital

It's all I can do to not say "We told you so!" The two chefs, Matthew Richmond and Steven Courtney, featured in this article, have declared the very solution to one of the huge disasters that resulted from the privatization initiative of the B. C. Liberals under the auspices of Gordon Campbell. It's unfortunate that the hospitalization of one of them was the catalyst. That's the last thing that every health-care worker wishes for anyone. But nurses, dietitians, building service workers, etc. have been railing against Campbell's agenda for years.

This move follows the likewise praiseworthy return to in-house operations for some services in other health authorities in B. C. earlier this year. And the improvement of patient care that follows will be evident immediately. This along with the other far-reaching benefits mentioned in Susan Kelly's statement always result in major cost savings, which is unfortunately the benchmark that administrators focus on.

Anything that helps patients get better is vitally necessary.

Thank you.
