Editor,
Pierre Poilievre, in his interview with Jordan Peterson, said that he would boost the economy by removing most regulations from new resource projects.
Most regulations serve a purpose.
They protect the health of people close to, or downstream of, or downwind of a project. They ensure the safety of workers. They ensure that workers are drawn from the Canadian labour force. They limit the environmental damage of a project. They sometimes limit greenhouse gas emissions.
Poilievre seems to care nothing about the consequences. He cares only about a quick and easy way to produce wealth. He reminds me of stories about people who make a deal with the devil. We deserve better from our leaders!
