Editor,
An open letter to ICBC president David Wong:
Re: $110 vehicle insurance premium refund
Congratulation on a good financial year as evidenced by your decision to provide a premium refund to all qualifying insured drivers. In view of our current political situation, Canada and U.S., perhaps you can reconsider the refund. Probably 51% of your insured do not need the $110; 49% may need it.
I would like your surplus account paid, perhaps as a dividend to your parent, to the Government of British Columbia. We are facing Trump-induced hard times, perhaps a recession. We all will have to give up something to support the Trump/Vance madness directed here and beyond our borders, worldwide.
Your redirection of the $110 to the 51% is a convenient way for us, a start, to contribute to the Trump disaster threatening our sovereignty. The 49% of your insureds who need support affected by tariff and recession layoffs will have to be accommodated by the Province.
Thanks for your patience. I know this is too late to go anywhere. I just want to make as much noise as possible to as many Canadians as possible including your board.
