LETTER: Removal of signs hurts Rotary Club fundraiser

South Surrey club helps local and international causes
shreddingsign
The removal of signs advertising a Rotary Club of South Surrey shredding fundraiser has hurt the club, its president writes.

Editor,

Several signs for the Rotary Club of South Surrey's upcoming event/fundraiser – SHRED-IT, May 31st at Ocean Park – have been taken down. The club has written permission from both the City of White Rock and the City of Surrey to have the signs up for the month of May.

This is a community event, and all monies go to local projects – SOURCES and its many programs, Men’s Shed, youth,  and many more Internationally – a children’s home in Battambang, Cambodia, which supports the well-being and education of over 30 children, so they do not end up in the sex trade.

The difference the club has made over the years is incredible.

There is a phone number on the signs – if you find them, please phone and we will come and pick them up.

It is very frustrating to the members of the South Surrey Rotary Club who put a lot of effort into making this even a big success. Who is removing these signs and why? If someone has a concern, please phone. Leave signs in place. They are one of our best ways to advertise – a great way to let the community know what is happening on Saturday, May 31st: safe and secure shredding by donation!

To replace signs cost approximately $25 – this money is better spent on community projects.
