Re: Surrey traffic camera enforcement
Even though Surrey Now already warned us, I have discovered that most of my Surrey acquaintances were still unaware that under the NDP government, 35 of the 140 red light cameras have been activated to also automatically ticket people for going over the speed limit.
Our Surrey Police Chief Norm Lipinski recently said that more of these speed cameras will be put into use in Surrey. The NDP will not reveal the velocity threshold that will trigger these cameras.
In 2023, over 26,000 British Columbians were charged over $5 million dollars in speed camera fees. Despite NDP denials, many see this as a cash grab reminiscent of the massively unpopular photo radar program imposed by the NDP in the 1990s.
Either way, drive safely and watch your speed. The NDP cameras will be watching you.
