Re: It's time for B.C. to fix Surrey's school crisis
"Enough already" is accurate. The problem is that there is a failure to examine history. Surrey’s lack of funding goes back to the Vander Zalm days. Surrey school board, when he was in provincial government, gave him everything he wanted as he was a former Surrey mayor. He asked for cuts, so they cut hard. Other districts? Not so much.
Then he asked for more cuts and Surrey had to struggle to give him more. At the end of it, the statement made was that all future budgets would be built on the current budget. Surrey has been the leanest district in the province since.
Other districts are rolling in money compared to Surrey. Someone needs to look at history.
