Editor,

Regarding the article on the "new city hall" proposal.

What don't these councillors get, and how many times do we have to go over the fact that White Rock voters do not want any highrises over 12 storeys in the town centre.

The city manager presented a proposal for a new city hall, option 3A from the $90,000 consultant's report, of a 12-storey highrise on the corner of 1510 Johnston Rd. This structure would be OCP-compliant and not need a spot zoning amendment.

But this does not seem enough height for five councillors who all promised to honour the 2021 OCP during the 2022 election campaign.

I'm getting a little fed up listening to their innuendoes that we, the residents of White Rock, are out of touch with housing needs or a document that we spent many months crafting, the 2021 OCP, a comprehensive and inclusive guideline to development, has suddenly become obsolete once they were elected.

They were elected in 2022 to honour the 2021 OCP. Failing that, they will be unelected in 2026 for doing the exact opposite.
