Editor,
It is obvious that some city councillors are more concerned about their image than what is actually good for our community. How else to explain their decision to favour the uptown cite for our city hub.
It is a congested area, and they want to squish all sorts of services into a very small space. What are they thinking about? How short-sighted can they be? Don’t they understand that people need to breathe as they come together. That requires space. And no amount of justification can replace that.
The current council majority cares about appearances and were quite upset when they were called out for voting as a bloc. Well they voted as a bloc to favour the uptown location.
Some of them have dressed their decision in the garb of affordable housing. Does that take precedence over creating a true community space that will be a joy and true focal point for the community? We are not Vancouver. We do not have to live vertically. We can create a wonderful environment for our community on the current site that our city already owns.
