Abundance of exciting programs

Today’s the day! Look for your copy of the White Rock Leisure Services Spring Leisure Guide in today’s Peace Arch News.

There’s an abundance of interesting and exciting programs to get involved in this spring. Read through the guide and call Leisure Services beginning Thursday at 8:30 a.m. to register for bus trips, exercise classes, computer lessons and much more.

If you did not receive your copy, you can view it online at www.city.whiterock.bc.ca, or plan a visit to the Kent Street Activity Centre, Centennial Park Leisure Centre or the White Rock Community Centre to get your print copy.

You can also skip the lineups altogether and register on the city website with a client number, family PIN and valid credit card.

Call 604-541-2199.

n Have you recently retired and are looking for something to get involved in?

Are you spending more time at home and less time out in the community?

The Kent Street Activity Centre is the perfect place to meet new people, learn new skills and enjoy a good lunch. We invite anyone 55+ who is interested to know more about the centre to join us on Monday, March 21 at 11 a.m. for an informative New Members Social.

There is no obligation to join, just come out and learn all the great things we have to offer. Please RSVP by calling 604-541-2231.

n Help create a healthy, vibrant arts and cultural community in White Rock by sharing your thoughts and desires at our Arts & Culture Café.

Please join us on Monday, March 7  at the White Rock Community Centre at 7 p.m. Get involved and make your voice count in this exciting process.

We appreciate if you RSVP by calling 604-541-2199.

This is open to the public and we encourage you to come out and share your thoughts.

You may also share your perspective by completing the short public survey at whiterockculture.ca. Thanks for your valuable input.

n This is a reminder that the Kent Street Seniors Society (KSSS) has begun a fundraising initiative that needs your help.

They are asking that you take your recyclables such as pop cans, beer, wine and water bottles to Choices Market located at 3248 King George Blvd. (Alder Crossing Mall).

All the funds generated from your donation of returnables will be given to KSSS and contribute to the necessary Kent Street kitchen renovations. Please pass this on to your friends and family. Don’t let your tins and bottles go to waste.

n Social dancing to live band music continues in the Kent Street auditorium every Wednesday from 7:30-10:30 p.m. Buy your tickets at the door – open at 7 p.m. Refreshments served midway. Tonight, Johnny Hsu will be on stage.

The Kent Street Activity Centre, located at 1475 Kent St., is open to people 55 years of age or better. For information on activities, programs and volunteer opportunities, call 604-541-2231.
