ACTIVE ADULTS: Craft fair a big success

Christmas spirit arrived at South Surrey Recreation Centre with Christmas Craft Fair earlier this month.

We welcomed the Christmas spirit into the South Surrey Recreation Centre with our second annual Christmas Craft Fair on Nov. 10.

With 86 tables of Christmas enthusiasts displaying their products, crafts and beautiful hand-made goods, the centre was alive with activity.

Food bank representatives were on hand to accept donations, and the community generously donated $541 in cash and 215 pounds of food.

Well done, residents of Surrey. We continue our collection of food at the recreation centre all year, so if you are attending classes, please bring in a non-perishable food item.

• Due to popular demand, we have asked Enjoy bus tours to offer another Big Vancouver Christmas Lights Tour on Tuesday, Dec. 4, with pickups at both the Cloverdale Recreation Centre and South Surrey Recreation Centre.

This tour will take you to all the wonderful Christmas Light displays, including ‘Bright Nights in Stanley Park.’ Don’t miss this holiday tradition. To register, call 604-501-5100 with registration #4314742, or register at the rec centre in person.

• Our Focus on Seniors Forum will take place Saturday, Dec. 1 at the South Surrey Recreation Centre.

It will provide seniors and caregivers with valuable information about legal, safety and support resources available.

A free lunch is provided to all who attend – registration is required.

Please contact 604-501-5100 or drop into the rec centre to register – #4305442.

• All of our 55+ groups are planning Christmas celebrations either at the rec centre or at Kwomais Point Lodge.

• This year, we also offer Family Christmas Movie Night on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 6-8:30 p.m., featuring Arthur Christmas.

Lots of family fun with popcorn, crafts and hot chocolate for only $3 per family member, and you can bring your own blanket.
