More than 40 Alex House staff and volunteers received Safe Harbour: Respect for All Training in November.
Alex House is now one of 1,000 Safe Harbour-certified locations in B.C. and part of a growing network of Canadian organizations who care about making our community a more welcoming place to live.

• Starting in December, Alex House will be running another Youth KRU program (knowledge, resources, understanding) for young adults aged 15-30 who are in need of assistance to overcome employment barriers.
Get the skills, knowledge and experience you need to get the job you want, with practical work experience, work-specific certification and employability skills development.
You must be legally entitled to work in Canada, out of school and not in receipt of EI benefits.
This is a 14-week project that runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m,. Monday to Friday, from Dec. 3 to the end of March.

• Join us for a fun day trip on Wednesday, Nov. 28 – – 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. – to historic Fort Langley.
We’ll take a tour of the historic site and see what life was like for the pioneers, then head to Tracycakes Bakery & Café for lunch.
Finally, we’ll visit some of the fun shops in Fort Langley.
Cost is $15/person, not including lunch.
Each month we’ll be embarking on a new adventure. Day trips are a great way to meet people in your community, try different things and see new places.

• The next. time you’re out walking in Crescent Beach, take a detour and come in to the office to see our completed Community Art Project.
Our caretaker, Lisa Lucow, took on the project as part of a school assignment, and she – with the volunteers who turned out to lend their talents, ideas and skills – produced a colourful, interesting, detailed work of art.
It encapsulates the heart of a neighbourhood house in a visual, fun statement. Drop in and have a look.
