Celebrate community at the 38th annual Alexandra Festival on Saturday, May 26, from 11a.m. to 5 p.m.
All-day family fun will include a treasure hunt, two bouncy castles, face painting, a creation station, henna tattoos, a noon-hour story time, a castle and doll house colouring project and the Surrey RCMP cruiser with safety tips, stranger-danger and their mascot, the RCMP bear.
Our newest Alexandra Children’s Centre at the Beach House will be holding an open house with lots of info on our Reggio Emilia based childcare centres. Sample a home-made cupcake and chat with Children’s Centre staff.
The Multicultural Fun Zone in Alexandra Hall will feature interactive art across cultures including the New Life – Youth Art Show, Chinese calligraphy, flag making and Interactive art demonstrations with hands-on stations.
Entertainment on the outdoor stage showcases outstanding local talent.
Children’s performer Chris Hamilton will be on stage at 11:20 a.m., celebrating the silly side of modern childhood with action-packed, fun family tunes and catchy original songs.
High-energy music and dance are the specialty of The Bhangramatics who celebrate diversity both on and off stage.
The Vaudevillians are an amazing and well-known group of seniors – ages 63 to 89 – who provide fast-paced song and dance routines for great family entertainment.
The troupe performs more than 20 times annually, entertaining thousands.
Payton Rector has a passion for music and a riveting voice. She’s been singing for audiences since age six and has performed at the 2010 Olympics, the Merritt Mountain Music Festival, Surrey Winterfest and the Orpheum Theatre.
You’ll be delighted by the young Spiral Dance performers, and you’ll marvel at the talent of the Advanced Youth Company Dancers. They bring community together through the rhythm of dance.
Artisans and crafters with unique items ranging from fused glass to pottery to woodcarving, jewelry, clothing, lotions and potions will be displaying and selling their wares, and we’ll be raffling off two gorgeous hand-made quilts, created and donated by volunteers, as well as various gift baskets.
Crescent Beach parking woes? No problem – hop on our convenient shuttle which will be departing continuously from the #240 Crescent Beach Legion, 2643 128 Street, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
And in the evening, celebrate the return of Crescent Beach Coffee House in Alexandra Hall. Doors open at 7 p.m. Drop by for a smile. Admission by donation.
There will be a variety of food and drink available all day so plan to spend some time by the beach at this popular community event.
