People in Surrey and surrounding communities looking for information about cancer now have a new resource to answer their questions.
The Cancer Information Centre at the BC Cancer Agency’s Fraser Valley Centre offers books, audiovisuals and online resources on a range of topics, including cancer treatment, complementary and integrative medicine, side effects, nutrition and survivorship.
The new centre will be staffed by a medical librarian and trained volunteers to help people find evidence-based answers to cancer-related questions.
A generous $50,000 donation from the Rotary Club of Surrey to the BC Cancer Foundation made the Cancer Information Centre possible. The money was raised through the club’s “Rotary Wine and Food Celebration.”
“Thanks to the Rotary Club of Surrey‘s contribution, each patient at the Fraser Valley Centre will have access to enhanced resources throughout their cancer journey," said Douglas Nelson, president and CEO of the BC Cancer Foundation. Their support of the BC Cancer Foundation and BC Cancer Agency is sure to impact the lives of those diagnosed with cancer and their family members.”
The Cancer Information Centre is located in the lobby of the BC Cancer Agency’s Fraser Valley Centre at 13750 96 Ave., and is open Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
