Health workshop aims to help, educate

The White Rock Leisure Services Spring Guide is now available online at www.city.whiterock.bc.ca.

There is still room in Thursday’s 10:30 a.m. clinic on Managing Blood Pressure and Cholesterol. Find out the best ways to monitor and control your blood pressure and cholesterol. Learn what supplements might help and get your blood pressure checked.

March 3 features Skin Care at 1:30 p.m. and March 17 addresses How to Save Money on Medications at 10:30 a.m.

• A reminder that beginning March 1, volunteers will be available through Kent Street for income-tax assistance.

This service is provided to those aged 65+ on low income. There are a limited number of one-on-one appointments available on Thursdays, or drop off your papers and volunteers will file your tax returns electronically.

Beginning next week, you may bring your 2009 return, all your 2010 papers and forms for drop off at 1475 Kent Street.

Considering the heart beats hundreds of thousands of times in a single day, why not join our drop-in classes Keep Fit 55+ or Stretch & Strength and really makes our hearts healthy and wholesome.

• Are you at risk of osteoporosis?

Attend the Feb. 28 Pharmasave Reach-Out presentation and learn how to prevent osteoporosis, what calcium supplementation can do for you and more.

Presented by local health practitioners, the presentation starts at 2:30 p.m. at the White Rock Community Centre.
