Celebrate the Annual BC Seniors Games.

The BC Seniors Games is an annual multi-sport competition that celebrates active and healthy seniors aged 55-plus. The 2014 BC Seniors Games will be held in Langley from Sept. 9 to 13.

Enjoy watching a multitude of activities, including swimming, dragon-boat racing, soccer, golf, archery, and table tennis just to name a few. Schedules and locations can be viewed online at www.bcseniorsgames.org

• If you are looking for a musical challenge that will reward you with more than just applause, come and check out the Kent Street Choristers.

Director Gale Lindenthaler teaches a varied program leading up to the Christmas concert, and then a different body of work for the spring show in May. A small audition is required; being able to read music is helpful, but not a requirement. Rehearsals start promptly at 9 a.m. every Tuesday morning in the Kent St. auditorium.

Come early on Tuesday, Sept. 9, to join this welcoming chorus.

• Now is a great time to sign up for recreation and leisure programs.

Whether you are interested in fitness, the arts, or making new connections, there is an array of programs available at the Kent Street Activity Centre, White Rock Community Centre, Centennial Park Leisure Centre and Centre for Active Living. Visit any centre and pick up the leisure guide or view it at www.whiterockcity.ca.

• Enjoy a Sunday afternoon in Steveston.

Board the mini-bus on Sept. 7 and visit the heritage exhibits at Britannia Shipyards and the Gulf of Georgia Cannery. Following that, take a stroll through the Steveston Farmers & Artisans Market with time to explore the shops and boutiques of this quaint village. The trip includes mini-bus transportation, admissions and guided-museum tours. Lunch is on your own.

Please call 604-541-2231.

• Many groups are starting up again after summer hiatus at Kent Street. Purchase a White Rock Leisure Services membership and join the plethora of social activities listed in the recreation guide.

Stop in to the coffee shop and read the monthly Kent Street Update for information on what is new this fall.

The Kent Street Activity Centre, located at 1475 Kent St., is open to people 55 years of age or better. For information, call 604-541-2231.
