Surrey and Delta shone brightly on June 30 as three locals won crowns at the annual Miss, Mrs. and Miss Teen BC Pageant.

Stanislava Ludmilin of Surrey won the Mrs. BC crown, while Alexandra Overdiek of Surrey took the Miss Fraser Valley title.

Tanpreet Parmar of Delta was awarded the Miss Charity BC title for having raised the most money for the pageant’s charity.

In total, pageant contestants raised $25,000 for Cops for Cancer, bringing the total to over $225,000 in the past 8 years.

This is the first time that either Surrey or Delta has won a provincial title in the pageant’s 12-year history.

Other provincial titleholders include Taylor Scott from Richmond, who walked away with the Miss BC title, and Brette Joyal from Langley, who was named Miss Teen BC.

The pageant will be broadcast on Shaw Television later this month.

The Miss BC, Miss Teen BC and Mrs. BC Pageant is unique in the pageant world in that there are no height or weight requirements or restrictions against women who have had children.  This year’s roster of contestants included a woman who was previously a competitor in the Special Olympics as well as a contestant with autism.

“Unlike self-styled beauty pageants, Miss BC is about finding role models for BC women.  As a result, the judges are looking for well-spoken, well-rounded, intelligent and outgoing women,” said pageant director Darren Storsley, who was also Mr. World Canada 2007.  “Stanislava, Tanpreet and Alexandra were hardworking, kind and open people, and the judges noticed.”

The Miss, Mrs. and Miss Teen BC Pageant is already conducting interviews for the 2015 pageant.
