'Not a tribute band,' warns post-modern trio Crimson Crescendo

Crimson Crescendo's upcoming Beatles Reimagined concert has been pushed back from May 4 to June 8.

A pleasure postponed, they say, is a pleasure prolonged.

So will it be with White Rock post-modern classical trio Crimson Crescendo's next concert in its Gossamer Glow series, originally scheduled for May 4, but now pushed back to Sunday, June 8, presented by Peninsula Productions at its studio theatre (Centennial Park, 14600 North Bluff Road).

The Beatles Reimagined, a highly individual reinterpretation of music composed by the members of the iconic 1960s band, will be performed in both a 2 p.m and a 7 p.m. candlelit show at the intimate, cozy (60 seats maximum) space.

"As always, our music will have our unique and original stamp on it with everything hand crafted and arranged just for this concert," says acoustic bassist/co-arranger Peter Koyander, one third of the trio, which also includes violinist Monika Niedzielko and pianist/keyboardist Bruce Petherick.

For this concert, Crimson Crescendo promises to present well-known and well-loved Beatles classics in "a way you've never heard before" – specially arranged for violin, piano and double bass.

"The music  of the Beatles is so well known and we will as usual be performing our own unique take with a twist," the trio's website states, while offering a friendly warning to anyone expecting a note-for-note reproduction of the Beatles' originals.

"Please note - we are not a tribute band!"

As seating is limited, early booking is crucial to avoid disappointment, the trio says.

Tickets ($37.28) are available through showpass.com, or call Peninsula Productions at 536-8335.
