An all-candidates meeting spotlighting issues affecting seniors in Surrey and White Rock is coming up, with organizers accepting questions from the community ahead of the forum.
With a provincial election coming up this October, all-candidates meetings are in full swing in different communities. One of those meetings will pose questions older adults would like answered by potential MLAs for the Surrey-White Rock and Surrey South ridings.
So far, organizers say Conservative candidate Trevor Halford, NDP candidate Darryl Walker and Green Party candidate Scott Kristjanson, all vying for the Surrey-White Rock riding, will be in attendance. Surrey South Conservative candidate Brent Chapman did not respond to an invitation, said a spokesperson from Brella Community Services Society.
Along with Brella, CARP, Semiahmoo Seniors Planning Table and Crescent Housing Society are hosting the event.
The aim of the town hall is to allow all participating candidates a chance to share how seniors' issues fit into their platforms.
Questions from the public are encouraged for the event, with those interested invited to email their questions to digital.inclusion@brellasociety.ca
To be held at Crescent Housing Society at 12850 26 Ave., the BC Provincial Election Town Hall meeting is planned for Tuesday, Oct. 8 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Individuals can register their attendance by calling 604-531-9400, ext. 207.
