So far the only political party to have a full slate of MLA candidates lined up to run in Surrey's 10 ridings heading into the Oct. 19 general provincial election is the Conservative Party of BC.
They are Tegjot Ball (Surrey-Newton), Brent Chapman (Surrey South), Mandeep Dhaliwal (Surrey North), Avtar Gill (Surrey-Fleetwood), Linda Hepner (Surrey-Serpentine River), Honveer Singh Randhawa (Surrey-Guildford), Dupinder Saran (Surrey-Panorama), Elenore Sturko (Surrey-Cloverdale), Bryan Tepper (Surrey-White Rock) and Zeeshan Wahla (Surrey City Centre).
Next up is the NDP, with incumbent MLAs Jinny Sims (Surrey-Panorama), Jagrup Brar (Surrey-Fleetwood), Garry Begg (Surrey-Guildford) and Mike Starchuk (Surrey-Cloverdale) and Rachna Singh (Surrey North) seeking another term in office, making for five of 10 Surrey riding candidates accounted for, for the currently governing party.
The BC United, meantime, has Trevor Halford seeking re-election in Surrey-White Rock, joined by candidate Japreet Lehal (Surrey-Newton), Dr. Claudine Storness-Bliss (Surrey-Cloverdale) and Noemi Victorino (Surrey-Guildford), making for four of 10 candidacies filled.
FInally, the Green Party of British Columbia so far has two of 10 possible Surrey MLA candidates named – Pat McCutcheonn (Surrey-Cloverdale) and Scott Kristjanson (Surrey-White Rock).
Earlier this month five-term NDP MLAs for Surrey-Whalley Bruce Ralston and Harry Bains (Surrey-Newton) first revealed through the Now-Leader that they will not be seeking a sixth term in office.
