One-quarter of Surrey voters cast ballots in advance: Elections BC

In the ten ridings in Surrey and White Rock, 93,152 of the 356,140 voters registered by Oct. 7 (26 per cent) cast their ballots in advance.

More than 25 per cent of registered voters in Surrey and White Rock cast their ballots during the advancing voting for the provincial election. 

British Columbians hit a new record with one million votes during the six days of advance voting, Elections BC says. 

In total, 1,001,331 British Columbians voted Oct. 10 to 16 – the most ever in an advance voting period.

In the 10 Surrey and White Rock ridings, 93,152 of the 356,140 voters registered by Oct. 7 (26 per cent) cast their ballots in advance. As of Oct. 7, Elections BC says there are 356,140 registered voters in Surrey and White Rock. 

Among Surrey's ridings, advance voter turnout was highest in Surrey-White Rock (32.4 per cent) and Surrey-Cloverdale (31.1 per cent), and lowest in Surrey North (21 per cent) and Surrey City Centre (21.9 per cent).

In 2020, about 64,026 (18 per cent) voted in advance. The last provincial election was also during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and many voters decided to vote by mail-in ballot.  In Surrey and White Rock, 68,396 residents had been issued mail-in ballots. That’s about 19 per cent of the 356,896 registered voters.

Final voting day this election is on Saturday, Oct. 19, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Those eligible to vote can also register in person on election day. Registration information and more is at elections.bc.ca/2024-provincial-election.
