Surrey RCMP are looking for potential witnesses and dash-cam footage of a hit-and-run on Sept. 11 that left a pedestrian with serious injuries.

A pedestrian is recovering in hospital with "life-altering injuries" after being struck in Surrey by an SUV that fled the scene.

On Wednesday (Sept. 11) night, police responded to a report of a pedestrian hit in the area of 124 Street and 68 Avenue in Surrey just before 8 p.m.

"When officers arrived on scene they located a male pedestrian who was transported to hospital with life-altering injuries," reads a release from Surrey RCMP Cpl. Sarbjit Sangha.

A 2021 black Kia Sportage was involved in the incident, police say, but fled the scene after the collision. The vehicle was located by police shortly after, however.

The investigation for the pedestrian struck incident is ongoing, with the RCMP's Criminal Investigation Team and the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service working to determine what led to the collision.

Anyone who has dash camera footage of the incident or may have witnessed it are asked to contact Surrey RCMP by calling 604-599-0502 and quote file number 2024-136307.
