Surrey man sentenced to life in prison for stabbing death of wife: IHIT

A Surrey man has been sentenced to life in prison for the stabbing death of his wife in December 2022.

Navinder Gill, 40, was sentenced Wednesday (Feb. 21) to life in prison and will not be eligible to apply for parole for 10 years, according to a release from the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team Thursday (Feb. 22).

On Dec. 7, 2022 police were called for a report of a stabbing in the 12700-block of 66 Avenue where they found 40-year-old Harpreet Kaur Gill in medical distress from multiple stab wounds. She later died in hospital.

A suspect, Navinder, was arrested at the scene and taken into police custody. He was charged on Dec. 16, 2022, and pleaded guilty to second-degree murder on June 22, 2023.
