Do you remember last spring, when the uncertainty of the pandemic caused families to stockpile groceries and necessities? This experience - brief as it was – offered a glimpse into the reality of not having easy access to basic supplies and the uncertainty of how to survive. For many families living in poor communities, this is the harsh reality they experience every day.
“What many of us felt when COVID started, feeling uncertain and afraid, continues to be the daily reality of children living in poverty,” explains Jose Prem, Executive Director of Childcare International (CCI). “When we build hope and bring light to impoverished children, we create a long-lasting impact, which is vitally important for their long term survival.”
Childcare International, is a local charitable organization committed to breaking the cycle of poverty, one child at a time. While poverty is an unfortunate reality in many third-world countries, the most vulnerable are the children – who in most cases can’t speak or fend for themselves.
Supporting childhood education is key
In recognizing the important role education plays in young ones’ lives, Childcare International partners with many local schools across the globe to provide children with education. Children receive a formal education that instills core values that will have a meaningful impact on their lives, ultimately transforming their families and communities too.
“So many children are lacking the monetary needs to pay for uniforms, books or school fees –meaning that even if they have the capacity to study, they don’t have the ability to pay. We help cover these costs, so the only thing they need to worry about is learning,” Prem notes.
To support CCI’s vital work you can sponsor a child – a monthly donation of $40 will provide access to education and basic health care, giving that child the opportunity for a better future, Jose explains.
You can also make a general donation by browsing through their gift catalogue, which provides education, medical care, clean water, emergency relief, food security, and other essentials to those who need help the most.
