When Lise and Matthieu Steimer joined Osteopathic Resolutions in White Rock in September, they envisioned a place where personalized care could meet the needs of the local community.

“White Rock is the perfect balance,” Lise explains, “with a mix of opportunity and a small-town feel. We wanted to be closer to our clients and build relationships in a way that’s sometimes difficult in larger cities.”

The Steimers, both trained osteopaths from Switzerland, bring experience to the practice, applying academic rigour and manual therapy techniques they acquired abroad with the needs of Canadian clients. “In Switzerland, we have more hours of academic knowledge and practicum,” Matthieu notes, “but the essence of osteopathy is the same – using hands-on techniques to relieve physical and emotional suffering.”

The team at Osteopathic Resolutions offers a range of services, from treating back pain and sports injuries to specialized care for women’s health, pediatric care and stress management. “Eighty to 90 per cent of our clients come in with back pain, headaches or neck pain,” Matthieu says, “but we also see a lot of emotional and stress-related issues.”

The focus is on treating the body as a whole rather than just addressing symptoms. Lise highlights their gentle techniques, which include craniosacral therapy and visceral mobilization, particularly effective in women’s health and pediatric cases. “I work with a lot of pregnant women and children,” she says. “We take the time to listen to their concerns and tailor each treatment to their specific needs.”

Treatments are typically an hour long, allowing time for in-depth consultation. “We make sure our patients feel at ease,” says Matthieu. “It's about physical adjustments and also understanding the emotional and stress-related factors that might be contributing to their pain.”

Osteopathy for every stage of life

Osteopathic Resolutions invites the community to learn more and see a live demonstration at their open house on Nov. 2.  The theme “Osteopathy for each person in your family,” reflects the Steimers’ commitment to treating patients of all ages, from newborns to seniors.

“Osteopathy is for everyone,” Lise says. “Whether it’s a newborn with colic, an athlete recovering from an injury, or someone dealing with the aches and pains of everyday life, there’s something we can do to help.”

Education beyond pain relief

For Lise and Matthieu, osteopathy is not just physical treatment. Patient education plays a central role in their approach. “We spend a lot of time helping our patients understand how their bodies work and how they can manage their own health,” Lise explains.

Matthieu adds that many issues they see are stress-related. “When people feel pain, it’s often connected to stress. Our job is to help them evolve from their situation, whether it’s through physical adjustment or helping them process their emotions.”

Ultimately, the Steimers are driven by a passion for helping people. “For me, it’s the privilege of meeting people, understanding their stories and being a part of their healing process,” Lise says. Matthieu echoes this sentiment: “Sometimes, the impact we can have on someone’s life is profound. It’s about more than just moving their body – it’s about helping them reflect on their feelings and find real change.”
