8 Germans on trial for allegedly forming far-right group

BERLIN — Eight Germans are going on trial for allegedly forming a far-right terrorist organization and carrying out bombing attacks on asylum-seeker facilities and left-wing political targets.

The German news agency dpa reported that the accused, seven men and one woman between the ages of 19 and 39, allegedly formed the "Freital Group" in 2015. The group is named after a suburb of the eastern city of Dresden that has seen a string of anti-refugee protests and other incidents.

The eight, whose names weren't released, are going on trial Tuesday at a court in Dresden.

They're accused of several attacks, including blowing up the car of a Left party politician, as well as two bombings of refugee homes in which windows were blown out and one asylum-seeker suffered facial cuts.
