Border Relations: Justin Bieber's White House deportation petition hits 125,000 signatures

The news follows last week's Peace Arch News story that said Bieber could be deported for allegedly admitting marijuana use.

The curious case of Justin Bieber's possible deportation has reportedly landed on President Barack Obama's desk, after a petition to have him returned to Canada picked up over 100,000 signatures.

The petition is available on the White House's website and was created on January 23, the same day the pop star was arrested in Miami Beach, Florida, charged with impaired driving and illegal drag racing.

Once a petition passes 100,000 signatures – currently, it's at 125,000 – the president is required to review it.

"We the people of the United States feel that we are being wrongly represented in the world of pop culture," the document reads. "We would like to see the dangerous, reckless, destructive and drug-abusing Justin Bieber deported and his green card revoked. He is not only threatening the safety of our people but he is also a terrible influence on our nation's youth.

"We the people would like to remove Justin Bieber from our society."

Last week, Washington state lawyer Len Saunders told Jeff Nagel and the Peace Arch News he fully expected Bieber could be deported from the U.S. and be barred from re-entering.

"If this guy was my client, I'd be just crapping my pants right now," Saunders said. "It's an absolute train wreck."

Saunder's quote came after the musician was not only arrested for the DUI, but also because he allegedly admitted to police that he had smoked marijuana and that he may have falsely claimed American citizenship.

Other Canadians have been barred from entering the United States after admitting past pot use.

"You can't have a double standard," Saunders said. "You can't have Justin Trudeau, Rob Ford and Justin Bieber admitting to drug use and not having immigration consequences."

On Tuesday, the day the petition hit its threshold, President Obama was delivering his State of the Union address.

There has been no official response from the White House's press room.

The video below (put together by American gossip TV show and website TMZ) says Bieber reportedly blew a .014 on his breathalyzer test – far below the standard drunk level of .08 – and there was some dispute as to whether he told police he had smoked marijuana.
