Fire crews were called to a flooring warehouse at 7550 132 Avenue which was engulfed in flames at 5:45 a.m. Monday morning in Newton.

The fire burned for most of the afternoon, but no injuries were reported.

The front of the building is being leased by Golden Flooring, while the remainder had just been leased by a building supply company.

The lease describes the building as a 19,958 sq.-ft. concrete block construction, which is fully fire sprinklered.

The cause of the blaze is still unknown.

The second call of the day came in at roughly 10:30 a.m. when a chimney fire spread to the roof of a townhouse at Holly Park Lane near 148 Street in Guildford, leading to the evacuation of four units.

"It looks like it was centered in around the fireplace and I'm not sure the exact cause of that," said battalion chief Gary McHarg. "There was some damage to about four units in total."

McHarg estimated the damage to the unit where the fire started to be in excess of $100,000.

The fire was contained within an hour with one crew remaining on scene until about 2 p.m. for clean-up.
