An eight-year-old girl was taken to hospital as a precaution after an SUV crashed into her school bus Wednesday morning.
The crash occurred around 8 a.m. at the intersection of 152 Street and 60 Avenue, across from Sullivan Elementary.
Surrey RCMP Cpl. Bert Paquet said it unfolded when a Dodge Durango westbound on 60 Avenue struck a Mitsubishi Outlander that was headed north on 152 Street.
Preliminary investigation indicates the Outlander went through a red light.
The impact spun the Durango and sent the Outlander into the bus, which was stopped on 152 southbound waiting to turn right onto 60th, Paquet said.
Paquet said the girl was one of two children on the bus at the time. She was taken to hospital after complaining of head pain. Her fellow traveller, an eight-year-old boy, was not hurt.
Paquet did not know if the pair were Sullivan students.
The Durango driver, a 57-year-old Surrey resident, was also taken to hospital for head pain.
The Mitsubishi driver, a 38-year-old Surrey woman, has been charged with driving without due care.
