City to remove excess logs

White Rock's waterfront will be cleared of problematic logs.

Excess logs are to be removed from White Rock's waterfront this week.

City officials said last week that the work will likely take place today (Thursday) and be focused near the white rock and the boat launch.

Removed logs will be ground up and sent to Fraser Richmond Soil and Fiber, the same composting facility where the city's green-can waste is recycled.

The city has approval for the work from the Fraser River Estuary Management Program; it is being done to prevent problems caused when logs block drains or become a safety hazard.
