A firefighter tapes off the scene of an early morning crash in the 15100-block of 16 Avenue Monday morning.

A morning crash on South Surrey's 16 Avenue Monday caused damage but no injuries.

According to police, the crash occurred around 7 a.m. when a truck westbound on 16 Avenue, lost control at 152 Street.

The truck impacted a lamp standard on the north sidewalk, shearing it off completely, as well as a tree.

No injuries were reported, and impairment was not a factor, said Surrey RCMP Cpl. Scotty Schumann.

One passerby who arrived on-scene after the crash said a young man who identified himself as the driver told her he lost control when he "swerved to avoid a left-turning truck."

The road was blocked westbound from 152 Street while crews dealt with the scene.

Schumann said the city will replace the lamp and tree.
