A White Rock man charged following a dispute between neighbours regarding a cat is to go to trial early next year.

A one-day trial is set for Jan. 15, 2014 in connection with an incident that took place in the 1400-block of Foster Street Jan. 17.

Police said what began as a verbal dispute over one man’s cat ended with a 57-year-old man sprayed with bear spray.

Patrice Larouche was charged with assault with a weapon and “possessing weapon for dangerous purpose.”
