City of White Rock officials say they aren't currently taking donations of goods for the more than 100 evacuees whose homes were lost in a massive fire at Five Corners Sunday.
According to an update on the city's website Sunday evening, "the immediate needs of all residents impacted by the fire have been met."
"We appreciate the generosity of those who have reached out," the bulletin reads.
City manager Dan Bottrill confirmed Monday morning that the affected residents all had accommodation, and – though some basic items had already been collected – there was no immediate need for donations.
Residents were quick to offer help in the way of clothes, food and blankets following Sunday's blaze, which destroyed 64 units in the 15210 Pacific Ave. development, also home to a dozen businesses.
Others posted offers online for accommodation to those who were displaced by the fire.
The city has directed monetary donations to an online fundraising site created by Laura Cornale, who owns Laura's Coffee Corner, one of the Five Corners businesses affected.
As of Monday morning, more than $2,200 had been collected; according to the site, funds will help support the residents who lost their homes.
Sources Community Resources is also offering free counselling services to those impacted by the fire, and collecting donations in person and online. Other online fundraisers are also collecting money for Sources to benefit fire victims.
