White Rock RCMP handed a 19-year-old Coquitlam man a 24-hour suspension last week, after stopping a speeding Chevy Cavalier during enforcement efforts on Marine Drive near Kent Street.

Sgt. Roland Pierschke said results of a sobriety test determined the westbound driver was impaired, “by drugs, not alcohol.”

In a search of the car, officers found three grams of marijuana, Pierschke said.

The driver was detained while officers searched the car, then released. He will not face charges in connection with possessing marijuana as the amount found was less than 30 grams, Pierschke said.
