Investigators siphon through evidence during a raid at the Town and Country trailer park on Wednesday.

Surrey RCMP descended on a Newton trailer park this morning in what's being called a significant drug bust.

On Wednesday at about 8:30 a.m., Mounties executed four drug search warrants at different residences at the Town and Country Trailer Park, near 8205 King George Blvd, in what was described as a "high-risk location initiative."

Surrey RCMP Sgt. Dale Carr said the bust was part of an ongoing battle police have with such locations.

He said police had been working at the Newton trailer park for several weeks, gathering intelligence.

Four or five people have been arrested and are facing charges of trafficking and possession for the purposes of trafficking.

"It's a significant disruption to the local drug-dealing trade," Carr said.

"We're hoping it has a significant impact and demonstrates our commitment to the community that we're working hard trying to disrupt and clean up this activity."

One neighbour living near the trailer park who watched the police at the scene said the trailer they were working on belonged to the "bossman," a person he described as a tracksuit-wearing "Eminem"-style "gangsta"-wannabe.

"He's always pointing guns and s--t like that."

In all, 12 people were arrested during the morning raid, on charges ranging from possession of stolen property to possession of drugs, including marijuana, cocaine, heroin and methamphetamine.

Enforcement will continue daily until police are satisfied the drug activity is under control, Carr said.

"The community is fed up," Carr said. "They've mandated us to target these high-risk locations and we're not going anywhere – we're going to continue to seek you and and disrupt your business."
