A senior has died as a result of “medical distress” that occurred while he was driving and caused his vehicle to crash into a pole in uptown White Rock.
The incident took place late Monday morning near the intersection of Thrift Avenue and Johnston Road and, according to White Rock RCMP, involved an elderly male driver.
“Initial indictations are that he died as a result of the medical issue that occurred immediately prior to the collision,” Staff Sgt. Kale Pauls told Peace Arch News. “No one else was involved.”
First responders were on the scene for some time, and nearby construction workers also set up a makeshift playwood barricade around the driver of the vehicle.
The vehicle, a Toyota Matrix, sustained significant damage and came to rest not far from an adjacent bus stop.
