The much anticipated new Evergreen skytrain extension will open to commuters Friday, Dec. 2.
Local politicians were on hand Monday morning at the Port Moody station to make the announcement.

The $1.43-billion, 11-kilometre extension will connect about 70,000 tri-city residents per day to downtown Vancouver, Port Moody-Coquitlam MLA Linda Reimer said.
But the project did come with some delays, particularly because of difficulties with the boring machine.
“But we overcame that, and it’s quite remarkable that we are able to actually open just a little earlier than anticipated, than 2017, when we realized we had that problem,” Reimer said.
Port Moody Mayor Mike Clay described the new line as a “longtime coming for Tri-Cities.”
The only thing better would be if it started today, he added.
He says his hope is the new line will “help young people get back and forth to jobs,” and bring more people to Port Moody and the surrounding area.
Exact time and opening day celebrations are still to come.
