The 1400-block of Johnston Road is part of the stretch of thoroughfare that the city would like to spruce up. An open house tonight at the community centre is to collect community input on the various aspects.

With the City of White Rock job action squared away, a number of civic open-house events are back on the calendar.

• Tonight (Tuesday), the public is invited to give input on beautifying Johnston Road, between Thrift Avenue to North Bluff Road.

Members of the Johnston Road reconstruction and beautification task force are looking for feedback on sidewalk widths, number of lanes, on-street parking and a 'gateway' feature.

The meeting is set for 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the White Rock Community Centre, 15154 Russell Ave.

• Thursday (June 19), the third in a series of meetings regarding Centre Street road-allowance improvements is to take place at the community centre from 7-9 p.m.

The landscape architect is to present the first concept design; attendees will have opportunity to ask questions and/or fill out a questionnaire.

For information, call 604-541-2116.

• Next Tuesday (June 24), meetings are set for cultural strategic plan stakeholders (6-9 p.m. at the Centre for Active Living, 1475 Anderson St.), and for the city's strategic transportation plan update (6:30-8:30 p.m. at the White Rock Community Centre).

The latter is to guide the development of White Rock's road, transit, walking and cycling networks.
