Furniture Barn's large showroom caught on fire early in the morning Aug. 6.

A local landmark was nearly destroyed by flames.

Fire crews responded to a fire at Cloverdale's Furniture Barn around 6 a.m. on Aug. 6.

The Surrey Fire Service quickly put out the blaze and were able to confine it to the upper floor of the business’s large showroom. The smaller main building and the kids gallery, both south of the large showroom, appeared to be untouched by flames.

Ten trucks and several dozen firefighters battled the blaze at Furniture Barn, which is located on 176th Street, just south of Highway 10—and a stone’s throw from Fire Hall No. 8.

Surrey Fire Services reported that no one suffered any injuries in the fire and that fire services are still investigating to determine the cause of the blaze.

Highway 10 was closed as the SFS battled the flames causing a bit of a traffic snarl, but was reopened at about 8 a.m.
