Firefighters have descended on a blaze in Green Timbers Urban Forest this morning.
On Thursday morning, fire crews trucked water deep into the forest to douse a smoldering fire, which was about 60 by 120 metres in size.
Water needed to be trucked into the area of the fire, which is about 250 metres south of the park entrance.
Deputy Chief Dan Barnscher told CTV news it is a smoldering fire without any active flames.
“Typically what this fire could be caused by, it’s not confirmed, is homeless or perhaps street people living in the bush,” he said.
He added these types of fires are common and often caused by cooking.
More details to come as they become more.
