The funeral for a woman beaten and dumpted in Whalley will be held Friday morning.
Janice Carol Shore (nee Brown), 45, was found at a vacant lot on Dec. 2 after being badly beaten.
She succumbed to her injuries on Feb. 19.
MaryAnne Connor, a pastor and head of NightShift Street Ministries, will be conducting a service for Shore on Friday.
Shore's family members, including her daughter, brother and others will be at the service.
It's also expected there may be a large contingent of friends coming from the Whalley area, where Janice spent a good deal of her time.
"Sunshine" was well-known amongst the people in Whalley as a quiet, and caring individual, who panhandled to make ends meet, but would give away her last dollar if she saw someone who needed it more.
"If she knew somebody needed help, she would insist," said her brother Ed Peterson, who may be better known to old friends as Ed Michael Collins.
A book of well-wishes for her recovery has turned into a memorial.
"Dearest Janice," wrote Kelly and Alaina. "U are, and always will be, the sweetest person we know."
And another old friend wrote, "I'm so sorry you lost the strong fight to stay alive."
SHore is survived by her brothers Ed and Ron, sister Sandra, as well as daughter Kristina, and sons Samuel and Michael.
The service is being held at the Avalon Surrey Funeral Home, at 13288 108 Ave. this Friday (March 8) at 11 a.m. The public is welcome to attend.
