Gold, jewelry stolen in White Rock break-in

Early-morning break-in culprits used 'rather unorthodox' method of entry, police say

An early-morning break-in at a White Rock currency exchange has police looking for one or more culprits who used a “rather unorthodox method of entry.”

Staff Sgt. Daryl Creighton said Wednesday that the business, in the 15200-block of Russell Avenue, was hit early Oct. 31, and perpetrators made off with a “large-dollar-value of gold and jewelry.”

Creighton would not disclose the value of the items taken or exactly how the thieves got into the business – citing the integrity of the investigation – but did say that the security system was disabled prior to the breach.

Officers with the Mounties’ forensic identification unit examined the scene, and police are asking that anyone with information on those responsible to call the White Rock detachment at 778-593-3600 or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
